Gyalwa Karmapa in AmericaRecalling a Buddha is currently being re-edited to increase the amount of archival footage, raise the level of production values, and bring in the story of Karmapa's activities in Europe. The film is currently not available for purchase. When the re-edited film is ready, complimentary copies will be sent to those who have already purchased Recalling a Buddha. Film will have a two hour runtime.

7.07 A few days ago, we interviewed Mr. Achi Tsepal who translated for Karmapa on the 1974 and 1977 tours and was his personal secretary for several years. Content-wise, the photographer, Tharpa Chotron, has contributed a vast number of images of the US tours. We came upon a 1976 half-hour TV program that featured Karmapa. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche is at his side and they are the guests for the entire program. Tendrel Films has the footage and the clearance to use it. In addition to adding clips to the main film, the Extras DVD in the Deluxe edition will contain the entire program under the heading "Interview with a Buddha."

4.07 We offer condolences to Ole Nydahl and the Diamond Way community on the passing of Hannah Nydhal. We were fortunate to interview the Nydahls in San Francisco in November and they will appear in the re-edited release of Recalling a Buddha.

Karmapa's escape route, 1958

11.06 A graphically designed map of Karmapa's escape route from Tsurphu in Tibet to Rumtek will be available. This route was recounted by Thrangu Rinpoche in a December 2004 interview where we reviewed high resolution, Tibetan and English-language maps of the Tibet, Bhutan and eastern India regions.

On Saturday, 10.13.06, Tendrel Films had the good fortune to interview Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche about the Sixteenth Karmapa. Recalling a Buddha provides commentary from ten Tibetan Rinpoches. Also, we recently worked with the photographer, Tharpa Chotron, who actively documented the dharma world of the early and mid 1970s. Recalling a Buddha presents many, many unpublished and extraordinary images of Karmapa and those around him.

9.06 Tendrel Films recently interviewed His Eminence Shamar Rinpoche so Recalling a Buddha includes commentary from all three living Kagyu Regents. In addition, we met with Traleg Rinpoche and Gene Smith, founder of the Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center, who were enormously helpful.
